Stuart Skinner
Former RAF Corporal, Veteran Advocate, and Campaigner for Homeless Veterans
Stuart Skinner, originally from Montrose, Scotland, is a former RAF ICT technician who served for 13 years. During his time in the RAF, Stuart completed multiple deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he gained invaluable experience supporting complex communications infrastructure in high-pressure environments. His deployments also solidified his deep connection to his fellow servicemen and women.
Following his retirement from the RAF, Stuart has redirected his focus to championing veteran causes, particularly raising awareness for the UK’s homeless veterans.
In 2024, Stuart, alongside fellow veteran Tony Murray, undertook an extraordinary 132-mile walk over five days, carrying 20-kilo weighted vests and experiencing life as homeless themselves to raise funds for Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI).
Their efforts resulted in an impressive £20,400 raised, directly supporting veterans in need.
Now, Stuart continues to lead by example, preparing for his next challenge in March 2025, a 125-mile, six-day walk to the National Arboretum, aiming to surpass the previous year’s achievements.
Why We Walk
"125 miles to make a difference"
In 2024, Stuart Skinner and Tony Murray completed a grueling five-day, 125-mile walk to support homeless veterans through RBLI's "The Great Tommy Sleep Out" campaign. Their journey didn’t just raise money - it raised awareness of the struggles many veterans face after leaving the Forces.
This March 2025, Stuart and Tony will embark on another 125-mile walk, this time taking six days to complete the journey from the RAF to the National Arboretum, a place of remembrance for those who served. Each step they take is in honor of those veterans who don’t have a home to return to.
